Star Valley '08

Every year we make a trek to the Valley. This year it was for Porter's Birthday and the 4th. Since the camera is being fixed there will be no visuals. Here are the highlights:

I wore headphones while driving because the headphones for the video in the van are kaput so we have to broadcast everything through sound system. Thank heavens for This American Life, you can only hear The Prince of Egypt(as much as I like it) and Robin Hood so many times.

Janalynn's sister Susan was there with three of her boys. They bought a bunch of fireworks and spent the better part of the day and night finding new and creative ways to fire them off.

We went out on the snake and salt river at Alpine Junction with Jan's cousin Angie and her family. When we asked our kids what their favorite part was, each said something about this. Porter liked playing with their kids. Natalie liked the boat and kneeboard, Kailey and Kelsey liked the boat and trying to get a tan.

Sibling Rivalry: Kailey had a hard time getting up on the kneeboard in fact after four tries she gave up. Kelsey jumped at the opportunity to outdo her, she struggled as well but I knew she wouldn't give up until she got up, she did and it was on. Kailey tried again a bit later, got up and went a long time, longer than Kelsey. She made a point to bring that up after Kelsey reminded her who got up first.

Dan, Andrew, and I went golfing afterwards. I am consistently inconsistent. I lost two balls off the first tee. Luckily I found a few others. The course is flat and without hazard. The greens are the bumpiest I have seen.

In all it was a great trip, one that we would love to continue to do each year. Hopefully Dan and Angie will oblige.
