Night at Rodizio

I took the best six students of the year to Rodizio Grill after receiving their recognition from the West Valley City Council. Mr. Reynolds our Vice Principal came as well. The bill came to $300, luckily our business parter Wheeler Machinery picked it up. I picked Rodizio because it is a cool place to eat at and I figured these kids hadn't been and wouldn't be going anytime soon. Plus I really like Rodizio, I figured we might as well go to a place I really enjoy.

A couple funny notes:
Reynolds is a former math guy, but I have to question him a little bit. We were given $250 for dinner. It is $25 per person, plus tax and tip so we would have just enough with eight people. When the waiter asked if we wanted specialty drinks, I said, "No, water will be just fine." Reynolds then said, "We have plenty of money." He then ordered everybody a $4.50 drink. A while later I had finished my drink and I asked for a water. Reynolds saw this and ordered another round of drinks. He looked over at me and said, "We have plenty of money." I just smiled and shrugged knowing the bill would be on his credit card(the money was deposited in the school fund and he would be reimbursed.) As you can guess when we got the bill it was $200 for dinner, $72 for drinks, then tax(which Reynolds got us out of because we are school group and tax exempt) We still had the tip to pay. I am not sure how much he gave, probably not 15/20%. When it was all over he said, "Maybe we shouldn't have got that last round of drinks." Yeah maybe not, but it wasn't on my card.

The next day the kids were talking up their experience and Zack told me that he was telling his dad how cool it was. He then told his dad how much the bill was, his dad then said, "There is no way we are ever going there." I am glad I picked the spot I did.

FYI each of these kids (Kayleena, Guadalupe, Jonathan, Tyrell, Zack, and Curtis) had under a 1.0 gpa in the 8th grade, this past year they maintained a 3.0 or better for the entire year. Curtis will be the sophomore class president at Cyprus, Jonathan beat every opponent he had in wrestling by pinning them, Tyrell was also on the wrestling team, Zack is the most genuinely inquisitive student I have ever had, and the girls were both stellar students. This was a real nice group. I will miss working with the at risk kids, I will miss seeing them improve and believe in themselves. It was a good ride and a great group to end on.

what a fun night! We too love Rodizio's and have racked up quite the bill almost every time we've gone. We always get drinks and desert when we go there... It adds up fast! Luckily we usually get gift certificates through a trade group Rich belings to and then it feels like we are not spending any money at all!
