Cool School

Fox 13 has a cool school of the week and Big Budah(that's how he spells it). The way you win is to compete against another school by voting online. The highest vote getter is the cool school. Big Budah and Fox 13 then come to the school and find out what makes it cool.

The voting started Wednesday morning. Our school announcements were a little vague as to how to do it, but by the end of the day most everyone knew how to do it. Teachers that had computers were allowing students to vote upon completion of work. By the end of the school day we had a big lead; probably around 500 votes for Hunter Jr. and about 10,000 votes for Matheson. About 95% to 5%. That night after Parent Teacher Conference I got online to check and Hunter had increased to 15,000 and we had about 55,000. Before I went to bed about an hour later they had 29,000 votes and we had 65,000. They had really come alive in that one hour. When I got to school I opened up the computer lab and allowed any student that wanted to to vote. I had my advisory class vote in there and Ms. Ungritch(she is highly competitive) brought her class in as well. Every computer was being used. Apparently the library lab was being used as well by other teachers.

At one point Aimee(Ms)Ungritch went in the hall and observed the computer class across the hall. She came back and said they are just sitting there wasting this opportunity and asked me if I would ask Linda (Ms)James to get her class voting. I did so and that's when we really started to see the votes come in. According to our Asst. Principal, Jared (Mr)Reynolds, we were getting 150-200 votes per time he refreshed (every few seconds or so) Hunter was getting about 10. By the end of advisory we had eclipsed 100,000 and had increased the percentages from 67% at the start of school to 73%.

The onslaught continued throughout the day and we were really blowing them out of the water. At 10:36 it was 129,925 to 39,588. Two hours later it was 141,164 to 40,362. We had more than 100,000 votes than they did. When I woke up this morning it was 325,041 to 56,483 85% to 15%. Right now it is 370,270 to 57,613 or 87% to 13%. I think we are going to win! It is rather insurmmountable now.

Random thoughts: I wasn't ever too worried and really wasn't too concerned until I checked Wed night. When they mounted 15,000 votes in one hour I thought if they were organized they could mount a comeback. That's when I became involved by opening the computer lab and having my advisory vote. yeah, yeah, I know I am competitive and like to win.

Steph (Ms)Doyle emailed her friends asking them to vote. When they saw how bad we were crushing Hunter they replied, "I don't think you have anything to worry about."

My TA reportedly voted for Hunter Jr. When interrogated by me, he said he wanted more competition. I used the analogy of scoring for the other team in BBall to make it more competitve. And then said that would be kinda stupid wouldn't it. He agreed.

Tanya (Ms)Escobar told me that she heard a rumor that the students were saying that I was voting for Hunter Jr. because my son goes there. I think they got mistaken for what I understand is that Big Budah's son goes there. I may make an announcement on Monday and validate their rumor:)

Just in case you want to vote for Matheson here is the link:

if nothing else you can check the score.

I just voted and you guys have a 91% - 9% tally right now. It seems pretty insurmountable, but so did my fantasy baseball lead....
