Classic Skating

The school had its classic skating night again so Natalie, Porter, and I went for fun. Natalie's friend Jasmine came along. This time we spent the majority of the time in the Pirate's Cove. It is basically a big maze full of nets and slides that holds 30 to 40 screaming wild kids. Needless to say it was a big hit. I don't remember anything quite like this as a kid. Yeah they had the balls at McDonalds, but that really wasn't til I was to big to play in them.

We did do some skating, well more like scootering. I am glad this place has scooters cause I don't think my kids would be able to do much other than fall over. Which Porter almost does all the time anyhow.



Here are my thoughts on this event:
It is really loud. At one point the dj asked for the kids to yell as loud as they could. A few thoughts on that--you mean they weren't loud enough before? You actually want them to get louder than they already are? Are you insane?

I saw someone trying to read a book. Can't imagine they actually got anything out of it.

They put up those blow up things and charge $3/hour per kid. And that is with the discount. I think it is normally $5/hr. Whatta racket. They pay one kid to watch the gates, but he isn't really watching. We went right past him and he said nothing. I imagine a lot of people don't pay and go in.

Normally we get all you can eat pizza, but you can only take one piece at a time. Plus that part is chaotic as can be. This time we ate beforehand. It gets stupid going up 10 times to get a piece or refill a drink. They need a better system.

We have had Jasmine over again. This is 4 straight weeks. I am not complaining at all. Its just Janalynn works Fridays so I am the one who works this out. Basically I am either driving Natalie over there or Jasmine is coming here. I feel like a divorced parent that gets to see my kid and ex wife once a week. It is a little bit comical. For instance Jasmine came to our house and then got picked up at the skating rink. Last week I followed them to their house after meeting at the off ramp. It is just kinda funny. I don't mind it, it just feels like an ex-thing.

Porter can't scooter very well as evidenced by his video. He just doesn't quite have the hang of it yet. Or he is too short--could be both. But it is funny to watch.
