This Week April 22-29

Surgery Update: Janalynn has had a very up and down week. And the downs have been very down. Alas, I think she is doing better, the last two days she has been in better spirits and hasn't been down too much. FYI she has already lost 12 lbs. Her diet consists of broth, yogurt, tomato soup, propel, and protien shakes in 1/4 cup portions. Hopefully her body is mostly adjusted for now. Her ankle seems to be doing well, either that or the discomfort from the gastro surgery is more than the pain from her ankle, I will say she is much more mobile of late.

Wed marked my first day back this week at the school. Needless to say this has been a tough year. Things have gone okay but my overall focus has been iffy and not what it has been in past years. We are now down to the final five weeks.

I took Natalie and Porter to the Tiger Extravaganza our school's annual community night. Brian Beal organized most of it but most everyone played a part in its success. Included were a giant blow up slide, one of those blow up jumpy things(see pics), a dunking tank, balloon animals, cookie decorating, face painting, button making, cotton candy, and popcorn. I am probably forgetting something but this is all Porter and Natalie did.
Highlights: Porter screaming at a kid who called me "Mr. Fawson" proclaiming that's not my dad's name.
Porter had on a spiderman shirt. The balloon lady made him a spiderman, it was actually pretty neat. (Natalie got a flower) After walking away he yelled I want a sword not a stupid spiderman.
Countless students asking if Porter and Natalie were my kids. There are too many comebacks to write or say I got tired of answering and just said no, and left it at that.
Natalie saying I was a bad dad cause they didn't get cotton candy. The line was at least a half hour long, plus its straight sugar. I wanted them to play and have fun not wait in line.

Alright lets talk about the Jazz. After blowing two halftime leads in Houston, the Jazz won two straight at home and looked impressive in both wins. The second one especially. It was a 20pt game in which Deron Williams dominated. He has been the best player in the series, on either team. They just plain outhustled and outplayed the rockets who look a little shell shocked. Okur really played well for the first time in the series on both ends of the court. I expect a dog-fight to end this thing. Whoever wins the next game has a major advantage. Let's hope its the good guys.
