Death of the Office
I realize I have posted lately about tv shows. Actually I have cut down what I watch and am down to only four or five I record and watch. I dumped Heroes a while back and haven't missed it at all, now it looks as if the Office is headed towards being dumped. It just isn't all that funny. In fact right now it is kind of like art imitating life. On the show the company is struggling in reality the show is struggling. What made the show work was Jim vs. Dwight, Jim trying to woo Pam, Michael being Michael, and the rest of the cast adding odd elements of humor. Well since they made Jim a boss he doesn't go up against Dwight and since he has Pam that is gone as well. Michael has lost some charm and just isn't what he used to be. The rest of the cast does little in the show anymore. I see the end coming to one of my favorite shows. Season two was one of the best seasons of any show ever. Three was good too, but since then it has been a slow downhill run until now when I have to question why I continue to watch. I guess I am just hoping for some of the old magic. Its like watching an athlete at the end of their career, they aren't what they used to be, but you have keep watching out of respect hoping to rekindle that old fire, until you finally realize its over. And then they retire. I feel the Office is close to that stage.

Mate - I do read most of your blogs. Gives me an inside read on you and your life/family.
On the TV show topic - because of knee reconstruction surgery - I had about 3 weeks of doing nothing but read, watch TV & play PS3 over the Christmas period. I got back into Heroes. I'd stopped at the end of season 1. Seems I've got stuck again halfway through season 3 - tired of it. Too confusing - "heroes" who were supposedly good - turn supposedly bad - but then it turns out they're really were good...etc etc .
Never watched your US version of The Office. LOVED the orig UK version though. Come to think of it - anything that Ricky Gervais is in will get me interested ('cept his last movie - "The Invention of lying) - had potential, but missed (big time).
I'm still hangin' in there with LOST. This is the 6th & final Season - and I just know that we're not going to get all the answers. We will end up as the title suggests.
I'd have to say - Dexter. It surprises me that I like it - but I really do. Something messed up about the plot in general and how he deals with his hidden monster - appeals to me. Can be gut wrenchingly bloody though..lol.
Have you ever watched it?
Other than that - one last series I watched that I couldnt get enough of - was a 13 part Australian series called "Underbelly". It's storyline is based on real events and families from the Melbourne underworld in the 80 & 90's. It had a great story - and makes it even more real here in Oz when there are still real life events going on that are related to the events in the series.
However - I warn you - as the name suggests, it's not a "family" show by any means.
One more thing - have you seen the movie "Invictus" yet? Matt Damon & Morgan Freeman - I think - gave superb performance.
It's about the 1995 Rugby World Cup. Wihongi and I were in Mangere at the time. You may have been with Hanson? Or were you with Seu? Otara? Mangere? or Papatoetoe?
Great movie though - go see it.
Drake.
