10-1 How? Who saw this coming? Even in my wildest prediction I didn't see a start like this, full of comebacks and great games. The question is why did this happen. Let's examine the Jazz and see if we can find out why now. 
First stop ornery old Sloan. Who'da thunk that a Jerry Sloan coached team would be leading the league in scoring? I can see the rebounding, the FG%, and even assists, but scoring, are you kidding me? Wow! Sloan has forever been the methodical pick and roll, boring but gets results guy not an uptempo leader of the league's most potent attack. This last week alone the Jazz scored 117 and 120 came back twice from deficeits of 16 or more and didn't lose despite not having AK 47. So why the difference? Certainly a change in Sloan is evident, he seems willing to play the young fellas and is it ever paying off. He is allowing guys to make mistakes, take risks, and make plays. He is not tinkering with the lineup like last year. He seems to have settled on when he wants guys in (well mostly that garbage lineup in the 3rd against the Suns is iffy). This is a different Sloan. He is complimentary of the young guys and is letting Deron Williams make plays. That was a major problem last year, one that Sloan handled miserably until he finally let Williams play after the all-star break. The Jazz have responded by playing it Sloan's way with a new attitude.
Boozer. I guess this is what we all hoped for when he signed 3 years ago. The best left hand I have ever seen. He is playing D, rebounding like a motha, scoring at will, he's doing it all. Right now he's the Western Conference player of the month. He rebounds the way Karl should have. Oh and he's shooting a paltry 58% from the field and 75% from the line. Stay healthy. Please.
Williams has been electric and amazing. A definite leader. He runs the show with savvy court awareness and the confidence of a vet. He is a deadly shooter, accurate passer, and a tough defender. Easily the most improved player in the league.
The hustle machine: Millsap. If the draft were done over he would be a high lottery pick. He has
done it all; hit shots, driven to the hoop, rebounded, tipped in shots, rebounded, blocked shots, hit big shots, stolen the ball, and just plain hustled. It has been really neat to watch him play.
Fisher has been solid, Okur has been money, Harpring has been terrific, Brewer has been the athlete we hoped for.
All this and AK has been hurt and less than stellar.
So why is this happening? Good coaching, healthy players(mostly), solid bench play, confidence, tough D, great rebounding and passing, good leadership. But mostly it is heart. This team has it. The great intangible. They can mix it up and be tough and still hit the outside shots. I don't know if there is anything more fun and exciting to watch than a team with heart. And this team has it.
