When I was in New Zealand we had service at the rec center every week. What we did was work with youth groups, two groups were pre-k the other was a whole Maori elementary. The last day we were there they asked if I would be the mascot. Sure! I got to dress up in this green outfit and ended up looking like a big booger. But it was real fun.
When we won the Fox13's cool school of the week I got to be the mascot again.
Here is the link to the clip.
Since we have a tiger for a mascot it was real cool to be the mascot. Only a select few knew it was me. It was fun high fiving, acting insane, being wild, doing all the mascot stuff.
The outfit got hot, but nothing compared to the hat. That is the one drawback. I was covered in sweat. Once you realize you are going to be hot no matter what, you just have fun. And that's what I did.
Afterwards a lot of kids accused me of being the tiger, I denied it but to no avail. They said they could tell it was me because of the way I walked and moved around. I'm not sure if I'd do it again, but after seeing the performance of another student at the soccer game, absolutely abysmal-he stood around with his arms folded-I may take another shot.
