I wasn't quite sure what to make of an invitation to Green River. Honestly I had no idea where it was, other than close to Moab. The house was supposed to big and nice, and in actuality it was. In fact it was really a neat place. I am glad we went. It was out in the middle of nowhere. Our crew had the upstairs loft with five beds(king, 2 queens, 2 twins), a shower, bath, and toilet to ourselves. The only problem was that there were no walls and it was really loud.
We got there Sat. at lunch time. Rode the four wheelers for a while and then the men went golfing. I don't think I have been golfing since Sept of last year, and I wasn't good then. In fact I am not good. On the first hole the following happened, I lost two balls, both of which were terrible hits into a little muddy stream that was about 10 feet from where I was hitting-bad hooks. It took forever, it prompted Bill to suggest we play best ball. Which actually saved me. Bill is a great guy, we've always been close, he continued to tell me to just make sure I was having a good time. He said, "No one cares how you do, except for you, so make sure you have fun." Well put. I picked up my game at the fifth hole and we actually used a few of my balls. By the seventh I was hitting well. In all it was a great time. Glad I went.
We had dinner at the Tamarisk, all I am going to say is you may want to go somewhere else if you are in green river, overpriced, fair at best food.
Sunday we had a nice church service in which we discussed Abraham and his offering of Isaac. This is truly one of the monumental moments in the history of the world. There are so many facets and parts of this.
Went to see some ancient Indian writings. Supposedly 8000 years old. I am much more skeptical. Some looked authentic, others not so much. Its just hard to say.
Told Porter and Natalie a nighttime story about Goblin Valley. Turned out to really captivate them, especially Porter who couldn't stop talking about it. He went on and on to anyone that would listen about Goblin Valley.
We finally got there. I have been there four times now. Each time I am amazed at how unique it is there. Can you imagine a game of steal the flag there? Now that would be awesome! Porter had a great time, as did all the kids. At the big cave we hiked up to someone told everyone to make a wish. Porter wished for a lot of rocks. Guess that one came true.
In all it was a neat experience, definitely worthwhile, the only thing I would change would be to bring some earplugs. It was a nice recharger for the second term.

Hey, Jared, the Green River trip looks like lots of fun. Wish we had been there with you, but maybe we can go next year. Grandpa is doing well, and is able to do a lot of things on his own now. Wayne and I are off to Hawaii on Sunday. We will return on the next Saturday. Maybe we can celebrate your birthday (along with all the others we've missed), pretty soon.
Hope to see you soon.
