Today is one of those good days as a parent when you get to just have fun. I relish going out with the kids and trick or treating it is truly just a good time. Both Natalie and Porter are old enough that we can walk a few streets, just far enough that I will enjoy it too.
Is there a better holiday for a kid than Halloween? I was thinking about this as we were going around to friends and stranger's homes getting loaded with candy and Porter said, "Dad, this is SO FUN!" Sure Christmas is great getting gifts and all, but I'm not sure there is another day where everyone you see is happy to see you and gives you treats.
As you can see we used alternate costumes tonight. I was Joe Dirt, in his own words Porter was a skelephant. Kailey made her outfit in 3 minutes, and Natalie might be the least scary witch ever. At school I wore my mullet head, many students didn't even recognize me. I took off the hair during the day, it was hot, only to have one student ask if I was trying to be like Aziz, our head custodian. Note: He is from France, looks middle eastern, and looks nothing like me, even if I wear a plaid shirt.
After knocking one street, Porter wanted to come home. He said, "Dad I wanna go home, I have enough candy." When he got home he stood in the driveway yelling at kids to come over. "Hey kids, come over here, we got treats!"
The nice thing is tonight I can go through the kids treats, pull out the good stuff, and take it to work for myself.

I LOVE Porters 'skelephant' costume, but Peter might be scared of it if he saw it! We also didn't get too far before heading home...
