Family Night at the Rosensteins

I knew Grandma Lawler was going to have surgery soon. I didn't know it was tomorrow. We had no plans so I called over and told them we were coming to visit. When we got there they were prepared for a full on FHE with us.

Grandma looked in good shape despite the bladder cancer that she has been afflicted with(the surgery is to see if it is spreading). She was her playful self, everyready to jest and sing. She is the writer of well known children hymns; I often go walking, Genealogy(now Family History), and Hinges off the top of my head.

We played Balderdash, probably my favorite game of all time. I love the art of being clever and trying to get people to pick my definition. Of note Shittim had nothing to do with waste, it is a piece of wood, but really fun to say. My best definition was for Shilleebeer- "A nonsense word used in complete frustration to avoid swearing." It was funny to watch my aunt Lorna who, when she thought others didn't hear 'her' definition would say, "Can you read that again?" and then "Oh that's a good one" me and Zach caught her more than once. I think next time I play I am going to put something like--an ancient insturment used in Madagascar during the middle ages-- it just seems like someone goes for the the ancient, someone else some foreign land and then a past time like the middle ages. I do really dig this game though.

Afterwards we ate cake and danced around to the Beatles. Before we left, David and I gave my grandma a blessing. I have to admit that I was really unprepared, I wish they would have told me beforehand, I could have mentally got myself ready. Be that as it may it was neat to give my grandmother a blessing. I felt good about things and definitely hope things go well.
