City Council Recognition (2nd day of summer vacation)

This is the third year out of four I have gone to the West Valley City Council to have students recognized for their achievement.(Of note: the one year we missed was because I honestly didn't feel anyone deserved it, and knowing what I know now, I was right.) This is a real neat event, I can't really describe it any other way. The kids get formally recognized by myself and the council. In attendance were Patricia Maldonado, Jay Gordon, Sara Al-Tamini, LJ Lozano, and Blanca Sanchez. I will just say that Patricia is the best student I have ever had, and Jay might just be my favorite. I got to say a few words about each one of them and then we shook hands and took photos with the council. Afterwards we went (minus Sara-I think her mom was worried about leaving her with us) to Golden Corral. I will say their steak is actually pretty dang tasty, I mean that, it's real good.

On a personal note this is one of the things I love about my job. Many people think I have it rough dealing with the tougher kids, but they couldn't be more wrong, the opportunity is just so great and the rewards so much higher than anything else I could be doing.

Apparently there will be an article and photo in next weeks West Valley Times.
