I had anticipated what this day would bring for sometime now. I had no idea it would be quite like it was. First off my partner for the day was Will Rogers. He had a tattoo that took up his entire right arm, and used the f word as a verb, noun, adjective, etc... He is a cool guy and hard worker, get the job type of guy. Not much of a communicater but just a hard worker. He's the kind of guy you like working with in that he will bust his butt to get it done.
Here are some thoughts:
It can get really hot being on the blacktop in the middle of the day.
YOu can never have enough water. In fact I crave water all day/all night.
Laying out the parking lot using chalk lines is pretty sweet. YOu use math and you create something unique and neat. It looks real good after being sprayed.
Today I got to top off the red curb. It was pretty simple and actually kinda cool. Once I get this down it will be cool. The funny thing is is that I thought it was simple and I did a fairly good job, not great but decent for a first time, I was told that 95% of the people they have worked with couldn't do it. Wow. They even used the term "Natural"(yes I am chuckling as I type this)
The work is draining.
Ben and Will are good people to work with.
Harley, Ben's dog is nuts. We were spraying off the trailer with a high powered pressure washer and Harley kept trying to drink off it. I put my hand in the spray and it hurt, I can't imagine my mouth. Harley would come back again and again.
In the All Star Striping company manual, All Star Striping is shortened to A.S.S.(yes I did laugh out loud after reading it for the 10th time)
