In case you are living in a box and not watching the Olympics, I am providing the link to the 4x100 free relay. Let me say a few things, first off the French ran smack before the race. Here is the quote, "The Americans? We're going to smash them. That's what we came here for."
This was the next step in Phelps quest for eight gold medals. The French were the best relay team in the world. On the last leg they were well ahead and the French had Alain Bernard the world record holder swimming with the lead. This seemed out of reach, yet somehow right at the end by a finger Jason Lezak caught up and out reached for the win. If you haven't seen it is really exciting. When I showed Janalynn she was jumping up and down saying "oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh my gosh."
