While I was getting a much needed car wash I decided I would write this review. Unfortunately only those of you in Layton or Davis County will really benefit--however there may be a car wash similar to this one near you.
I usually go to a manual car wash and race as fast as I can and try to get it done in the four minutes my dollar fifty will get me. Needless to say it usually isn't perfect. I then spend seventy five cents to vacuum. This would put the manual car wash at 2.25 if I went as fast as I could. If I take the van I can never do it that fast and usually kill myself trying so I end up spending about five dollars and need a drink to compensate for the sweat I lost trying to get it done with the timer on. Plus the vacuum can eat an extra quarter or two every once in a while.
Today I needed the car washed. Actually a week ago I needed it washed, today I finally got to it. I decided to try the new Express Wash on Hillfield road next to the new D.I. I would've have gone to the manual wash if not for the 1/2 price sign out in front. I thought why not throw caution into the wind and try this. Let me say that there are 3 prices 10, 7, 5. So I thought I would try the 10 since it was really 5. You can pay with a card so this is already a bonus from the manual wash where you had to have quarters or bills.
When you pull into this thing it is a little confusing cause once you pull up you put the vehicle in neutral and DON'T Touch the Wheel. It pulls you through. Car washes are cool, with the water, soap and brushes doing all the work. The dryers did a great job as well. I have to admit I would not have done as well, not even close. The tires were black, the windows were clear, no missed spots, and no water spots(since it was dried off and it uses soft water). I was very pleased.
But what makes this place great is the vacuums. After the wash you have unlimited vacuum use. No racing against a timer. Plus the hose moves very easy and there is more hose, and it is more powerful, better fitting on the end.
Since I had such a good time I grabbed the van and washed it as well. I decided to see what the 5 dollar (regular price) wash would be like, plus since my car is cooler it only makes sense to pay more for it than the van. I will say there is a difference and drop-off in quality. It is still better than doing it yourself(it takes about 3-5 min) and the windows are clear, the tires clean and all, but it didn't do quite the job. Now maybe that is because it was the van, not the smaller car, but it didn't sparkle quite like the car. It was nice to have garbage and vacuum right there as the van accumulates a lot more crap than the car.
Overall it was better than doing it yourself and probably ends up costing about the same if you get the $5 wash. The vacuuming is free with any purchase. I would totally recommend it, especially at the end of a vacation or when you need to vacuum. $10 is a lot, but there is a noticable difference, so if your vehicle needs a good scrub it might be worth it. Best part was listening to music instead of killing myself racing the clock. So if you live close go now while it is still half price.
