Every year we get three administrative interns at the school. Each one is there for 1/3 of the year. This is my fifth year at the school and we have had some decent interns, a few great ones, but only one icon.
First off let me say that I am happy that I got to know Aaron. I try to make everyone feel welcome but with Aaron it was a little more than that, I realized he and I were compatible and that by the end of his time we had become friends. I will definitely miss having him around the school and hanging out with.
But I am not the only one. In fact I have never seen anything quite like this. In just a few short months he became an Icon at our school. Everyone and I do mean everyone liked him. The girls liked to look at him and the boys wished they could hang out with him. At lunch he had groupies that would follow him around. Like I said I have never seen anything quite like this rockstar treatment he received.
In my advisory we do a random act of kindness every week. This week they chose to decorate his door and get banners for kids to sign and hang up in his room. I had nothing to with all this. I thought it was neat that they wanted to do it for him, but it was their ideas and their work that made it happen. (You can see the signatures on the butcher paper in the one pic) He received letters, balloons, I think even flowers. Truly it was remarkable.
You can fool a few people, but you can't fool 950 people. Aaron is a neat guy with a lot of talents and just knows how to handle himself. Social skills are a highly underrated asset. I mean think about it how many people never make it because of their own lack of personality or tact. Aaron really knows how to deal with people. He will be missed at our school. Not sure what his groupies will do now.
The following pic is because some students made me hot wings in foods, seven to be exact, and brought them to class. I was hungry, plus I kinda had to eat them. They were tasty and had the right amount of heat. My hands and face were covered in sauce by the time I was finished. All I can say is I wish they would have made wings when I had a foods class.
